Islamabad: The 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram (Ashura) is being observed across Pakistan today with deep religious devotion, reverence, and an atmosphere of mourning. Religious gatherings and mourning processions are being held in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, as well as throughout Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, in remembrance of the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions.

Processions Follow Traditional Routes Amid Solemn Observance

Across the country, the main Zuljanah and Tazia processions are proceeding along their traditional and designated routes.

Millions of mourners are participating in elegies and chest-beating rituals to pay tribute to the martyrs of Karbala. The solemn atmosphere reflects the enduring message of standing firmly for truth and justice without compromising on principles.

Comprehensive Arrangements for Mourners and Security

Authorities and local volunteers have made special arrangements for Ashura observances across the country:

Refreshment Camps: Drinking water, traditional beverages, and free food are being provided through Sabeels and community kitchens along procession routes.

High Security Alert: Comprehensive security measures have been implemented nationwide. Procession routes are being monitored through CCTV surveillance, while mobile phone services have been partially suspended in selected areas as part of security arrangements.
