Armed Resistance Against the Taliban Intensifies: Heavy Clashes Reported in Badakhshan's Zebak

Kabul: Reports from Afghanistan indicate continued fighting between Taliban forces and armed anti-Taliban groups, with Zebak district in Badakhshan Province emerging as another focal point of the conflict after recent reported clashes in Yaftal. Independent verification of battlefield claims remains limited.

According to local sources, anti-Taliban fighters launched coordinated attacks on Taliban security checkpoints in the Top Khana area of Zebak district. The sources claim that at least 15 Taliban members were killed during the clashes, although these figures have not been independently confirmed.

Developments in Yaftal and Zebak

Before the reported clashes in Zebak, the resistance group Sepahiyan-e-Mihan (Soldiers of the Homeland) claimed to have carried out an operation in Yaftal District, temporarily taking control of the district headquarters, a police station, and intelligence offices. The group also claimed to have seized weapons, military vehicles, and other equipment after removing the Taliban flag. These claims have not been independently verified.

"The continued and coordinated resistance attacks reflect growing public dissatisfaction with Taliban rule. Local resistance networks appear to be expanding, while new groups are also emerging," local sources said.

Resistance Activity Reportedly Expanding

According to local reports, anti-Taliban resistance activity is no longer confined to Panjshir and Andarab. Armed groups are also reported to be active in several other provinces, including:

• Northern and Northeastern Afghanistan: Badakhshan, Takhar, Kunduz, Baghlan, and Kapisa.
• Major Urban Areas: Kabul, Balkh, and Herat.

The evolving security situation in Badakhshan is presenting new challenges for the Taliban authorities, while reports suggest that armed resistance networks continue to expand across different parts of Afghanistan.
