Youth in KP Also Support the Creation of New Provinces on Administrative Grounds, Demand Fair Distribution of Resources

Amid the ongoing debate over the creation of new provinces and administrative units in Pakistan, young people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have also openly voiced their support, calling for new provinces to ensure an equitable distribution of resources and better governance.

Speaking on the issue, students and young people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that although provincial autonomy increased after the 18th Constitutional Amendment, basic public problems and governance challenges remain unresolved. They argued that Pakistan’s existing provinces are very large in terms of both area and population, making it difficult for resources and the benefits of development projects to reach remote areas.

The students said that, for example, underdeveloped districts in Punjab and other large provinces often fail to receive the attention they deserve because of their distance from administrative centres. They maintained that creating smaller provinces on administrative grounds could reduce the burden on governments, make it easier to control corruption, and allow administrations to focus more effectively on the development of their respective areas, ultimately improving citizens’ quality of life.
