US Delegation Meets Field Marshal at GHQ; Regional Security and Economic Cooperation Discussed

Rawalpindi — A high-level delegation from the United States House of Representatives held an important meeting with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HI (M), Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the US delegation included Representative Ryan Keith Zinke from the state of Montana and Representative Michael James Baumgartner from the state of Washington. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on matters of mutual interest, regional security, bilateral defence cooperation, and the promotion of economic partnership.

Key Points of the Meeting

Regional Security and Defence Relations:

Both sides reviewed the regional security situation and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening Pakistan-US defence relations.

Emphasis on Economic Stability:

Field Marshal Asim Munir stated that sustainable regional stability is closely linked to economic growth, trade expansion, and enhanced international connectivity.

Reforms and Foreign Investment:

The Army Chief highlighted the ongoing structural reforms in Pakistan aimed at creating a more favourable environment for investment.

Private-Sector Partnership:

The US delegation acknowledged Pakistan’s economic role and emphasised the need to increase bilateral trade and cooperation between the private sectors of both countries.

The US lawmakers recognised Pakistan’s important role in promoting regional stability and economic sustainability. The delegation thanked the military leadership for its warm hospitality and expressed a shared commitment to taking economic, trade, and institutional relations with Pakistan to new heights.
