Islamabad (Health Desk) The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has declared unauthorized clinical practice illegal and has sent a formal letter to the Ministry of Health.
According to PMDC, clinical practice by pharmacists, psychologists, and dental technicians is not legally permitted. The council clarified that diagnosis and treatment are exclusively the domain of registered doctors and dentists.
The letter stated that the growing trend of unqualified treatment and quackery may lead to the spread of dangerous diseases such as HIV and hepatitis.
PMDC further said that allied health professionals are not authorized to prescribe medicines, and such practices pose a serious threat to human lives. The council has also directed the relevant individuals to immediately stop such unauthorized practices.
