Sleeping Beauty: 50 Women Mountaineers Embark on a Historic Expedition

Quetta: In a significant development for tourism and women’s empowerment in Balochistan, a team of 50 women mountaineers has launched an expedition to summit the renowned mountain peak known as “Sleeping Beauty.” The historic hiking event was organized on Monday by the Balochistan Institute for Tourism, Hospitality and Culture Management (BITCHM).

The campaign, titled “Reclaiming the Summit,” aims to highlight the courage, determination and adventurous spirit of Pakistani women while encouraging greater female participation in mountaineering and outdoor activities.

National Flag and a Powerful Display of Courage

The participating women mountaineers demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm and determination as they began their ascent toward the summit. Upon reaching the peak, they are expected to raise Pakistan’s national flag as a symbol of unity, courage and perseverance.

Key Objectives of the Campaign

Women’s Empowerment and Confidence: The initiative aims to develop leadership skills, physical fitness and adventurous capabilities among young women.

Promotion of a Healthy Lifestyle: The campaign seeks to encourage women, particularly in underserved communities, to participate in outdoor activities and sports.

Promoting Balochistan’s Tourism Potential: The expedition will showcase the province’s spectacular landscapes, mountain ranges and rich cultural heritage to national and international audiences.

According to the organizers, the initiative will not only promote Balochistan as a peaceful and attractive tourist destination but could also open new opportunities for mountaineering and eco-tourism in the province.
