Lahore (Sports Desk): Pakistan ODI cricket team captain Shaheen Shah Afridi has not been included in the Test team camp.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has called up 49 players for various camps in Lahore, including 22 players selected for the Test format and 27 players for the white-ball formats (ODIs and T20s).
According to sources, the red-ball (Test) camp will continue until July 10, while the white-ball camp is expected to run until September 18. The potential camp for the West Indies tour will begin on July 15.
The board’s think tank has decided not to include Shaheen Shah Afridi in the Test camp; however, he has been retained among the 27 players in the white-ball squad. He is expected to report to the camp on June 15.
The 26-year-old Shaheen Shah Afridi made his Test debut in December 2017 against New Zealand, while his last Test was against Bangladesh. In his career, he has taken 126 wickets in 34 Test matches.
In the recent series against Bangladesh, his performance came under criticism, where a decline in his bowling pace was highlighted. After that, he was dropped from the second Test.
