September 1965 War: Pakistan Army Breaks Through Strong Indian Front at Jaurian

Rawalpindi / New Delhi — On the fifth day of the September 1965 Indo-Pak war, the Pakistan Army made remarkable advances on multiple fronts, pushing back enemy forces. Following intense fighting throughout the night, Pakistani forces gained complete control of Jaurian, one of India’s most important and strongly fortified defensive positions.

Battle of Jaurian: Enemy Forced into Historic Retreat Toward Akhnoor

After gaining a decisive advantage on the Jaurian front, Indian troops, suffering heavy losses, were forced to retreat 18 miles from Jaurian and 3 miles from the strategically vital Akhnoor sector. During the major advance, the enemy’s logistics and defensive positions were effectively paralyzed.

Key Military Achievements and Losses

Complete Control of Jaurian: After hours of intense shelling and combat, Pakistani forces gained control of the defensive positions.

Enemy Retreat: Indian forces were forced to abandon their defensive positions opposite Akhnoor and retreat.

Operations in Occupied Kashmir: More than 50 Indian soldiers were killed and dozens wounded during operations against various posts.
