The first-ever Deaf Children Excellence and Research Centre in Balochistan has been formally launched in Quetta to provide education, training and rehabilitation services for children with hearing impairments.

The unique institution, established through collaboration between the federal and provincial governments, was formally inaugurated by Federal Minister for Culture Aurangzeb.

Around 350 students with hearing impairments are currently enrolled at the centre. Along with quality education from the primary to secondary levels, the institution is also providing vocational and technical training in line with the requirements of the modern era.

Special arrangements have also been made to provide girls with practical training in sewing, embroidery and other handicrafts alongside their academic education, with the aim of helping them become economically self-reliant.

According to experts, the establishment of Balochistan’s first research and excellence centre of its kind marks an important milestone toward the welfare, self-reliance and development of persons with special needs in the province.
