Quetta Hosts First Joint Sikh-Hindu Prayer Gathering for Peace

Quetta (4 July 2026) — In a historic first for Balochistan's provincial capital, Quetta, members of the Sikh and Hindu communities jointly organized the traditional religious procession known as Nagar Kirtan to promote the message of peace, harmony, and interfaith unity.

The event was organized under the leadership and support of Provincial Minister for Interfaith Harmony Sanjay Panjwani, Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Ravi Pahuja, and the Quetta Hindu Panchayat. A large number of members from both religious communities participated in the procession.

Purpose of Nagar Kirtan and Collective Prayer

In Sikh tradition, Nagar Kirtan is a religious procession in which devotees move through the streets while singing hymns, offering prayers, and spreading the message of peace and goodwill.

The key highlights of the event included:

• Historic Interfaith Unity: For the first time in Quetta's history, the Sikh and Hindu communities jointly organized a major religious procession.
• Prayers for Peace and Prosperity: Participants offered collective prayers for peace, brotherhood, stability, and economic prosperity in Balochistan and across Pakistan.
• Government Support: Representatives of the Government of Balochistan participated in the procession and reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the rights and religious freedom of minority communities.

Comprehensive Security and Traffic Arrangements

The Government of Balochistan and law enforcement agencies made extensive security arrangements to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the procession. A temporary traffic management plan was implemented along the procession route to maintain smooth traffic flow while ensuring the safety of all participants. As a result, the historic event concluded peacefully without any untoward incident.
