QUETTA: The Quetta district administration has launched a major operation against the illegal sale of Iranian fuel, sealing 68 mini petrol pumps and arresting 52 individuals during a large-scale crackdown across the city.

The crackdown was supervised by Assistant Commissioner City Muhammad Aamir Hamza, Special Magistrate Ijaz Hussain Khosa, Assistant Commissioner Sariab Musawar Ahmed Achakzai, Assistant Commissioner Sadr Muhammad Yousuf Hashmi, Assistant Commissioner Kuchlak Captain (Retd.) Kabir Mazari, and Special Magistrate Haseeb Sardar.
Officials said that 68 illegal mini petrol pumps were sealed, while 52 individuals involved in unauthorized fuel sales were arrested and sent to jail following legal action.
The district administration stated that operations against illegal fuel dealers and profiteers would continue without discrimination to ensure public safety and maintain lawful business practices.
Despite the operation, citizens and social circles criticized the administration for taking action nearly two weeks after complaints regarding illegal fuel sales and overpricing surfaced.
Members of the public have demanded an inquiry into the delay and called for accountability of officials who allegedly failed to act promptly despite repeated complaints.
Authorities maintain that efforts to curb illegal fuel trade and protect consumers from exploitation will continue in the coming days
