The demand for the creation of new provinces and administrative units on administrative grounds has gained momentum across Pakistan, with the call now increasingly being heard in Balochistan, the country’s largest province by area.

Residents of Lasbela have voiced support for the creation of new administrative units in the province, saying that dividing Balochistan into four provinces could prove to be a historic and welcome development for the region.

Local residents said that granting Lasbela separate provincial status would save people from the long and difficult journey to the provincial capital, Quetta, for routine matters and basic administrative needs.

The residents argued that establishing new provinces in Balochistan, with its vast territory and remote areas, would enable public issues to be resolved more quickly at the local level. The move would not only make it easier for ordinary citizens to take their concerns to relevant authorities and departments, but administrative reforms would also bring basic facilities closer to the people and significantly improve governance.

According to analysts, the voices being raised by citizens demonstrate growing local support for the proposal to create new administrative provinces as a means of improving governance.
