Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chairs a meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee of National Action Plan in Quetta on 19 May 2026.

An important meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee under the National Action Plan was held in Quetta under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. During the session, detailed briefings were presented on Balochistan’s security situation, development projects, governance reforms, and counterterrorism measures.

The Prime Minister paid tribute to Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the Pakistan Armed Forces for their effective efforts against terrorism in Balochistan and across the country. He also appreciated Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti and his team for their work on public welfare and development initiatives.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister directed the deployment of Frontier Corps (FC) personnel in the Rakhshan Division, stating that the move would establish an effective security corridor for the protection of mineral resources. The plan includes additional FC wings, highway checkpoints, surveillance grids, and border posts.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan is rich in natural resources, especially minerals, and emphasized that providing a secure environment in Balochistan is essential for building confidence among local and international investors.

He further stated that modern training and the use of advanced technology for police and other law enforcement agencies are crucial for the complete elimination of terrorism. The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of integrating Balochistan’s youth into the national mainstream through educational opportunities, technical training, employment, sports initiatives, scholarships, and digital skills programmes.

During the briefing, officials informed the meeting that no polio case has been reported in Balochistan since November 2024. It was also shared that several healthcare projects, including a Cancer Institute, dialysis centres, and trauma centres, have become operational.

Officials further stated that 99 percent of schools across the province are currently open and educational activities are continuing. In addition, the solar energy project has benefited more than 15,000 households and has reportedly generated savings of approximately Rs105 billion so far.

The meeting was attended by Army Chief and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, federal ministers, and senior officials from relevant institutions.
