PM Shehbaz Sharif: Congratulations to the Entire Nation, Petrol Prices Will Also Be Reduced

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the National Assembly and described the Iran-US peace agreement as a historic milestone for global peace and a major diplomatic achievement for Pakistan. He stated that the development had elevated Pakistan’s standing on the international stage.

The Prime Minister congratulated opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai and members of the House, emphasizing that despite political differences, all parties remain united on matters of national interest. He called for a unanimous resolution to demonstrate national unity and solidarity.

“Government and opposition members will always stand together for the dignity of the state and national unity,” the Prime Minister said.

He paid tribute to individuals involved in the diplomatic effort, highlighting the contributions of Syed Asim Munir, the foreign minister, and the interior minister. According to the Prime Minister, Field Marshal Asim Munir played a central role in helping finalize the Islamabad Agreement.

Discussing recent diplomatic contacts, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif informed the Assembly that he had held a constructive telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and extended an invitation for an official visit to Pakistan, which was accepted.

The Prime Minister also linked the agreement to potential economic relief, stating that global oil prices could decline following the easing of regional tensions. He announced that petroleum prices would be reduced to ensure that the benefits reach the public.

He further stated that a high-level Pakistani delegation would travel to participate in the funeral ceremonies of the late Iranian Supreme Leader.
