Over 400 Sheep Looted from Livestock Department Farm in Pishin Border Area

QUETTA: More than 400 sheep belonging to the Livestock Department were reportedly looted from a border area in Balochistan’s Pishin district, officials said.

According to government authorities, armed men held staff members hostage at a government farm located in the Maslakh area and drove away the sheep to an unknown location.

Officials said the farm was involved in breeding Karakul sheep, a breed whose skin is used in making traditional Karakul caps, commonly known as Jinnah caps.

The Livestock Department confirmed that an FIR has been registered and an investigation has been launched into the incident. Authorities added that this is the first such large-scale theft from a government livestock farm in Balochistan.

Provincial Livestock Minister Mir Faisal Khan Jamali also confirmed the incident and said the department is currently looking into the matter.
