QUETTA: More than 35 militants belonging to what authorities describe as Fitna al Hindustan were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted by security forces in the Mangla Zarghoon mountain range near Quetta.
According to details that emerged on Sunday, the operation has been ongoing since May 13.
Special Assistant to the Balochistan Chief Minister, Shahid Rind, said security forces achieved major successes during the operation, including the destruction of several militant camps and hideouts in the area.
He added that three key commanders of the militant group were also arrested during the operation.
Rind stated that important intelligence information had been obtained from the detained commanders, while further operations were continuing in the region.
He said the operation was crucial for maintaining peace and stability in Balochistan and across Pakistan.
The provincial official added that authorities were tightening the net around facilitators and supporters of militant networks and would continue counterterrorism actions until terrorism was completely eradicated.
