New Administrative Units Inevitable: Younger Generation Makes Clear Choice
Islamabad — The demand for the creation of new provinces and administrative units to ensure sustainable development, equitable distribution of resources and effective governance across the country has received strong support from the younger generation. In a nationwide survey, a clear majority of students from all four provinces expressed decisive support for the creation of smaller administrative units.
Students Across Four Provinces Agree on Effective Governance
University students from Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan participated in the survey and called for reforms to the existing administrative structure. According to the youth, smaller administrative units, instead of large and densely populated provinces, can play a fundamental role in reducing the distance between state institutions and citizens.
Key Survey Findings and Students’ Recommendations
Swift Resolution of Public Issues: The creation of smaller provinces would facilitate the resolution of complaints at the grassroots level and make it easier for ordinary citizens to access senior authorities.
Improved Service Delivery: Healthcare and basic education facilities would be significantly improved, while public welfare projects could be completed more rapidly.
Better Control of Crime: With smaller geographical jurisdictions, law enforcement agencies would be able to strengthen their oversight, potentially leading to a significant reduction in crime.
Removal of Administrative Hurdles: The elimination of red tape and bureaucratic delays would help establish effective governance in the true sense.
Administrative Reforms Essential for Sustainable National Development
According to the student community, the time has come to link national development with regional balance. Young people believe sustainable prosperity can only be achieved by devolving administrative powers to the grassroots level, ensuring equal opportunities for every section of society and every region of the country.
