Lahore (Sports Desk): The Pakistan Football Federation has, after long consultations with all four provincial and regional associations, announced a comprehensive national plan to strengthen the provincial, regional, and district-level football structure across the country.
According to the federation’s Chief Executive and Media Director, the new roadmap has been developed to place the football system in the country on modern lines and to improve coordination among all stakeholders.
Under the plan, assistance will be provided in the appointment of professional general secretaries in provincial and regional associations, while the administrative structure of football at the local level will be made more effective and stronger.
The federation president has shown special interest in and full support for this initiative. The programme includes district-level championship competitions, tournaments for young players, improved management systems, and steps for the development of the sport at the grassroots level.
Officials said the plan will lay a strong foundation for the future of football in the country through the launch of district-level football championships. They added that strong national teams are always built on a well-organized grassroots structure.
They further stated that if quality players are to be produced, regular and consistent sporting activities at the district level must be ensured. This system will help identify new talent, strengthen local clubs, and provide clear opportunities for players to progress.
According to the federation, district championships will be launched across the country under this plan, which will also help identify and eliminate inactive or fake clubs while allowing genuine and active clubs to move forward.
