National Assembly Approves Over Rs. 407 Trillion in Essential Expenditures for Next Fiscal Year

Islamabad (Web Desk): The National Assembly has approved more than Rs. 407.41 trillion in essential expenditures for the upcoming fiscal year following the completion of budget discussions. The approved funds will be utilized for government operations, institutional functioning, and the repayment of domestic and foreign debts.

A significant portion of the budget has been allocated to debt servicing and repayments. Lawmakers approved Rs. 259 trillion for the repayment of domestic debt principal and over Rs. 69.82 trillion for interest payments on local loans. Additionally, Rs. 58.36 trillion has been allocated for foreign debt repayments, Rs. 10.71 trillion for foreign debt servicing costs, and Rs. 1.30 trillion for short-term external liabilities.

The Assembly also approved Rs. 10.57 billion for the conduct of future elections, Rs. 6.93 billion for government employee allowances and pensions, and over Rs. 2.80 billion for the Presidency. Islamabad High Court received an allocation of Rs. 2.36 billion, while Rs. 607 billion was approved for external development loans. Funds were also allocated for government audits, foreign missions, and the Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment of Women.

The National Assembly session was adjourned until 11:00 AM the following day after approval of the financial measures.
