Mastung: Organized Gang Stealing WAPDA Wires Busted, Large Quantity of Stolen Material Recovered
Mastung — Police in Balochistan’s Mastung district have uncovered a major network involved in stealing valuable WAPDA electricity wires, in a successful operation against those damaging national infrastructure. Four key members of the gang were arrested, and a large quantity of stolen wires, along with a car and a motorcycle used in the crimes, were recovered.
According to details, the operation was carried out on the special instructions and close supervision of SP Mastung Allah Bakhsh Baloch. The team included DSP Muhammad Rafiq Hamza, SHO City Abdul Rauf, and ASI Shabir Ahmed, who conducted the raid in the Killi Reki area.
Intelligence-based operation and pursuit
Acting on credible intelligence, police developed a coordinated strategy and began tracking a suspicious vehicle. The surveillance led officers to a secret hideout of the suspects, where a raid was launched and all four individuals present were arrested on the spot.
During the search operation, the following items were recovered:
- Large quantity of stolen WAPDA transmission wires
- A vehicle used for transporting stolen material
- A motorcycle used for reconnaissance and criminal activities
National loss and ongoing investigation
Initial investigations suggest that the group was part of an organized network involved in cutting and stealing electricity wires from different areas and selling them in the market. These activities not only caused losses worth millions of rupees to the national exchequer but also disrupted power supply, creating serious difficulties for the public.
Police officials stated that interrogation of the arrested suspects is ongoing and efforts are underway to trace their facilitators, buyers of stolen goods, and other members of the network. Raids are being conducted in multiple areas.
SP Mastung praised the police team for the successful operation and announced rewards and commendation certificates. He reiterated that strict action against those involved in damaging national property will continue without any leniency.
