Mastermind of FC Headquarters Attack Killed in Balochistan Operation
QUETTA: Security forces have killed a key commander of the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Pishin area, officials said on Thursday.
According to Frontier Corps (FC) officials, the militant commander, identified as Baseer, was allegedly involved in the suicide attack on the FC headquarters in Quetta that resulted in the deaths of three FC personnel and 10 civilians.
Officials said security forces received intelligence regarding the presence of the suspect in the Zarghoon Ghar area of Shahban, Quetta district, where he was reportedly planning another major attack.
Following the tip-off, FC personnel launched an operation in the area. A heavy exchange of fire reportedly continued for nearly two hours, during which the alleged commander was killed while another militant was arrested.
Authorities stated that the suspect was also linked to several other attacks in and around Quetta. Officials further confirmed that at least 15 suspects have so far been arrested in connection with the FC headquarters suicide attack investigation.
