Major Maritime Reforms Initiative: Port Qasim–Pipri Railway Link Becomes Operational

Islamabad — Through the special efforts of the Prime Minister’s Task Force on Maritime Reforms, Pakistan’s logistics and port systems are being modernised through Port Qasim and Pipri Yard. The task force has completed several development projects to improve inland connectivity with the country’s ports, paving the way for a major acceleration in the transportation of commercial cargo.

The primary objective of these reforms is to facilitate import and export activities and strengthen the national economy.

Karachi Port–Pipri Railway Link Restored to Accelerate Cargo Transportation

On the Prime Minister’s special instructions, the crucial freight railway link between Karachi Port and Pipri Railway Yard has been fully restored. The revival of this important connection will make it significantly easier to transport goods from the ports to different parts of the country.

Joint Development: The Pipri Railway Link project was completed through cooperation between the National Logistics Corporation and Pakistan Railways.

Multimodal Logistics System: An integrated transportation network involving barges, roads, and railways is being developed between Karachi Port, Port Qasim, and Pipri Railway Yard.

Efficient Supply Chain: The initiative will significantly reduce the time and cost involved in transporting cargo to inland destinations.

National Dredging Plan: Deepening Work at Port Qasim Completed

A major engineering achievement has been recorded to ensure the uninterrupted movement of large commercial vessels at the port.

Industrial Zone Development and Third-Party Audit

Rapid Infrastructure Development: Construction of roads and other essential facilities in the Port Qasim industrial zone has been completed on an emergency basis.

Transparency and Oversight: All stages of strict monitoring and third-party audits have been completed to maintain high standards in development projects.

Modern Port Services: State-of-the-art logistics parks, modern warehousing facilities, and value-added services are being introduced to manage growing trade volumes and provide major support to Pakistan’s imports and exports.
