Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 21 Kharijis Killed in Various Security Operations
Rawalpindi — The Pakistan Army has conducted successful operations in various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing 21 terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij. ISPR has expressed serious concerns over the Afghan government’s failure to prevent cross-border terrorism.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), an extensive series of intelligence-based operations was conducted across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from September 3 to 5, during which security forces achieved significant successes.
Infiltration Attempts Along Pak-Afghan Border Foiled
According to the report, as part of the ongoing operation in North Waziristan that began during the night between August 31 and September 1, another 10 Kharijis hiding in the area were killed. The total number of terrorists killed while attempting to infiltrate the area has now reached 25.
In another operation in North Waziristan, security forces detected cross-border movement in a timely manner. An effective and professional response by the forces resulted in the killing of seven more Kharijis.
In addition, four more terrorists were killed during joint operations conducted by law enforcement agencies in the districts of Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan.
Strong Criticism of Afghan Interim Government’s Failure
ISPR stated unequivocally that the repeated infiltration attempts along the Pak-Afghan border reinforce Pakistan’s position that Afghan territory continues to be used against Pakistan.
The Afghan Taliban government has completely failed to prevent terrorists from using its territory.
The Afghan government has also been unable to fulfil its international commitments regarding border management and counterterrorism.
Operations Continue Under ‘Azm-e-Istehkam’
According to ISPR, security forces remain determined to defend the country’s borders. Search and clearance operations are continuing with full intensity to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the area.
Under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Apex Committee of the National Action Plan, the Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies will continue their mission with full force to root out foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
