Karachi Port Achieves Historic Milestone in Global Shipping Connectivity Index
Karachi Port has achieved a significant milestone in international maritime trade, recording a historic performance in the Port Liner Shipping Connectivity Index. During the second quarter of 2026, the port’s connectivity score rose from 309 to a record high of 343, lifting Pakistan to 34th position in the global shipping ranking.
The Port Liner Shipping Connectivity Index evaluates the capacity and quality of maritime connectivity based on data from around 900 ports worldwide. According to experts, the significant expansion of Karachi Port’s network is helping Pakistan establish itself as a stronger maritime hub in the international shipping sector.
Improved maritime connectivity and greater access to global shipping networks are expected to boost the country’s trade and open new international markets for Pakistani exports.
The achievement by Karachi Port reflects the positive impact of the Prime Minister’s Task Force’s maritime reforms and timely trade-related measures taken by the federal government.
