Islamabad — Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has rejected what he described as an Indian propaganda campaign targeting him on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). According to his statement, personal attacks against him are an attempt to divert attention from challenges facing the Indian government and to improve Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public image.

The Defence Minister stated that personal criticism or attempts to portray him negatively would not address India's internal issues.

Comments on Modi's International Image

Referring to remarks attributed to Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, Khawaja Asif said questions have also been raised within India regarding some of Prime Minister Modi's international recognitions.

Key Points Raised

  • Questions Over International Recognition: According to Khawaja Asif, Rahul Gandhi has questioned the credibility and presentation of some international awards associated with Prime Minister Modi.
  • Public Image Campaign: Khawaja Asif argued that international publicity efforts were intended to strengthen Modi's image on the global stage.

The Defence Minister also referred to reporting by the British newspaper The Guardian, stating that it had raised questions regarding the transparency and credibility of certain international recognitions associated with Modi.

"Personal attacks against me will not resolve India's internal challenges. Such campaigns cannot restore credibility through propaganda alone."
