Karachi: Pakistan has achieved a major milestone in maritime trade and environmentally friendly transportation, as more than 2,000 electric vehicles have arrived successfully at Karachi Port through the country’s first Roll-on/Roll-off (Ro-Ro) shipment.

The specialised vessel MV Grande Shanghai, carrying the modern vehicles, successfully berthed at the KGTML terminal of Karachi Port.

Officials have described the first and largest import of electric vehicles through a Ro-Ro vessel as a revolutionary development in Pakistan’s maritime trade sector.

A key feature of Roll-on/Roll-off vessels is that vehicles can be driven directly on and off the ship without the use of cranes.
