Gwadar Port Completes First-Ever Historic Ship Bunkering Operation

Gwadar: Pakistan has achieved a historic milestone in its maritime sector and blue economy by successfully completing the first-ever bunkering operation for an international vessel at Gwadar Port.

The operation was carried out by the National Logistics Corporation in collaboration with the global energy company Vitol.

During this landmark development, the UAE-owned LNG carrier ENUGU was supplied with 2,500 metric tonnes of Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil in full compliance with environmental regulations prescribed by the International Maritime Organization.

Locally Refined Fuel Meets International Standards

A major feature of the operation was that the high-quality marine fuel used in the process was produced locally by Cnergyico PK Limited at its refinery.

Industry experts said the achievement demonstrates Pakistan’s capacity to meet stringent international marine fuel standards. They added that the development would help establish a strong and sustainable bunkering system in the country.
