Green Pakistan Initiative Attracts Major Investment to Restore Barren Land

Islamabad — The Green Pakistan Initiative is beginning to deliver positive results by promoting the restoration of barren land, advancing modern agricultural practices, and attracting domestic and overseas investment. The project has opened new opportunities for private investors and overseas Pakistanis to contribute to the country's agricultural development.

Overseas Pakistani investor Ghulam Mustafa, who returned to Pakistan after spending 12 to 13 years abroad, said he joined the Green Pakistan Initiative as one of its pioneer investors. Under the project, he was allocated land in the Rakh Ghulaman area, where farming activities are now successfully underway on more than 1,100 acres.

Rakh Ghulaman: Restoring 10,000 Acres of Barren Land

According to Ghulam Mustafa, more than 50 percent of the 10,000-acre barren tract in Rakh Ghulaman has been restored for cultivation within the past two years.

The farm is currently producing key crops, including wheat, chickpeas, and canola, and after two years of continuous work, the harvest has begun reaching the market.
