QUETTA: At least five people, including a tribal leader, were killed when unidentified gunmen opened fire in Qila Abdullah district of Balochistan on Sunday, police officials said.
According to police, the incident took place in the NADRA Market area of Mezi Adda, where armed assailants riding motorcycles opened fire on a group of people before fleeing the scene.
All five victims died as a result of the attack. The bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital for legal formalities and identification.
Law enforcement agencies launched a search operation in the area to trace and arrest the attackers.
Following the incident, relatives of the victims staged a protest and blocked the Quetta-Chaman Highway, demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible and improved security measures.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the attack, while security has been tightened in the area to prevent further unrest.
