The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Balochistan Zone has foiled a major currency smuggling attempt at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Chaman, recovering more than Rs52.5 million in cash and arresting one suspect.
According to FIA officials, the operation was carried out during intensified checking at the Chaman border crossing, where officials intercepted a suspect allegedly attempting to smuggle a huge amount of local currency across the border illegally.
The recovered amount reportedly exceeds Rs52.5 million, making it one of the major currency seizure operations in the region in recent months.
FIA authorities said the crackdown against smugglers has been intensified to curb illegal financial activities that can negatively impact the national economy. Officials added that further investigation is underway to identify possible facilitators and networks involved in the smuggling attempt.
The agency reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against all forms of illegal cross-border trade and currency smuggling.
