On the eleventh day of the September 1965 war, officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army displayed exceptional courage and laid down their lives in defence of the motherland. On the historic and decisive Sialkot front, Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Rehman, Major Ziauddin Ahmed Abbasi and Lieutenant Hussain Shah fought bravely and embraced martyrdom.

During the intense tank battle in the Sialkot sector, Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Rehman, who was serving as a Commanding Officer, was martyred after coming under enemy fire. In recognition of his extraordinary bravery, he was posthumously awarded the Sitara-e-Jurat.

In the same sector, the Indian Army was attempting to advance toward Wazirabad, where Major Ziauddin Ahmed Abbasi stood as an unyielding barrier in the enemy’s path. Through his courageous strategy, he inflicted heavy losses on the Indian forces and, while holding his position on his tank, resisted the enemy until he embraced martyrdom.

Lieutenant Hussain Shah, who also embraced martyrdom while fighting bravely on the front, was posthumously awarded the Sitara-e-Jurat by the government in recognition of his courage.
