Decision to Form Judicial Commission Over Ziarat Martyrs Incident

Quetta — Negotiations between the Balochistan government and the Ziarat Sit-in Committee have concluded successfully, after which both sides signed an important written agreement. Under the agreement, the protest sit-in has been called off, while the government has approved the immediate formation of a judicial commission to conduct a transparent investigation into the Ziarat martyrs incident.

Key Points of the Agreement Between the Balochistan Government and Ziarat Committee

The agreement aims to promote lasting peace and stability in the province, ensure justice for the affected families, and introduce administrative reforms. Its key provisions are as follows:

Formation of a Judicial Commission: A high-level judicial commission will be established to conduct a complete, impartial, and transparent investigation into the Ziarat martyrs incident.

Joint Consultative Meeting: A joint meeting will be held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister of Balochistan. Provincial opposition parties and the families of the martyrs will participate to review progress on the implementation of their demands.

Strengthening the Police Force: The strength, professional capabilities, and operational capacity of the police force will be enhanced to improve law and order in urban areas.

Revenue Department Committee: A special committee headed by the Revenue Minister will be formed to address public concerns and complaints relating to land matters. Government officials and respected local representatives will be included in the committee.

Financial Compensation and Support for the Martyrs’ Families

Family Support, Children’s Education, and Naming of Government Buildings

According to the agreement, all measures under the prevailing policy will be taken to ensure the long-term rehabilitation and welfare of the affected families.

Most Important Provision: The families of the martyrs will receive full financial compensation in accordance with the existing policy. Their long-term financial support will be ensured, while their children will be provided free education. In addition, various government buildings will be named after the martyrs to honour their memory.
