Controversy erupts over alleged disappearance of nursing student in Quetta

Quetta (Balochistan News Desk) A controversy has emerged over the alleged disappearance of a nursing student in Quetta, where the family claims she has gone missing, while authorities say she has been taken into lawful custody.

According to details, Khadija Bint Pir Jan, a resident of the nursing hostel at Bolan Medical College, was allegedly taken away under unknown circumstances. Her family has expressed concern and appealed to the public and human rights organizations for assistance.

The situation intensified when Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Naseem Kakar of Bolan Medical College Hospital ordered the hospital’s closure as a form of protest. He warned that if the student is not produced within 24 hours, other hospitals in the city may also be shut down.

On the other hand, the Government of Balochistan has rejected allegations of enforced disappearance. According to Adviser to the Chief Minister on Interior Babar Yousafzai, Khadija was taken into custody based on solid evidence on charges of assisting terrorist elements.

Authorities state that the student has been transferred to a detention center under legal orders of the provincial government, and her family has been informed in accordance with the prescribed procedures.

The official stance maintains that all actions were carried out under established laws and procedures, and the public has been urged to refrain from spreading unverified information.

It is noteworthy that in recent times, universities and hostels in Balochistan have been under scrutiny regarding security concerns, with previous incidents leading to arrests and investigations.
