Quetta (Web Desk): A shutter-down strike is being observed across Balochistan on the call of the Balochistan National Party (BNP), with support from trader associations and several allied political parties.
In Quetta and many districts of the province, business activities have been partially affected. While major markets, shopping malls, and commercial centers remain closed in several areas, some shops are open and economic activity continues in others, reflecting a mixed and partial strike situation across the province.
Impact on Highways and Transport
Sources said the strike has also affected the province’s transport and communication network. Traffic on national highways connecting Balochistan with other provinces remains reduced as transport companies and private vehicles have limited their movement due to the tense situation and security concerns.
Political Response and Situation on Ground
Several political parties in Balochistan have expressed support for the BNP strike call. However, implementation of the shutdown varies from area to area, with some regions observing normal business activity.
Authorities have deployed strict security measures in Quetta and other sensitive areas to maintain law and order during the protest.
