Commissioning of Hangor-class submarine in China, President Asif Zardari attends ceremony

Islamabad (Balochistan News) The first commissioning ceremony of the Hangor-class submarine was held in China, in which President Asif Ali Zardari participated as the chief guest.

According to details, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and other senior military officials were also present at the ceremony.

President Asif Ali Zardari described the commissioning of the Hangor-class submarine as a historic milestone in the modernization journey of the Pakistan Navy, saying that it reflects Pakistan’s commitment to a strong, balanced, and reliable defense system.

He said Pakistan has the full capability to protect its sovereignty, defend maritime interests, and ensure economic security.

The Naval Chief, while addressing the ceremony, said that increasing disruptions on key maritime routes pose a threat to global trade and energy security, making the need for modern and technologically advanced naval forces more important than ever.

He added that Hangor-class submarines are equipped with advanced weapons, sensors, and air-independent propulsion systems, and will play a vital role in maintaining maritime stability and defense balance in the region. These submarines will also be crucial for protecting sea routes and important trade lines of communication.
