LAHORE – May 16: In a monumental loss to the Pakistani media landscape, veteran journalist, intellectual, and Chief Editor of the historic monthly Urdu Digest, Altaf Hasan Qureshi, has passed away.
According to family sources, his funeral prayers will be offered tomorrow (Sunday) at the historic religious seminary, Jamia Ashrafia, Ferozepur Road, Lahore. A large number of journalists, political leaders, and members of civil society are expected to attend.
A Lifelong Commitment to Ideological Journalism
Altaf Hasan Qureshi was an institution in himself. Alongside his brother Dr. Ijaz Hasan Qureshi, he launched Urdu Digest in the early 1960s, introducing a pioneering style of long-form political interviews and bold investigative features that reshaped Pakistani current affairs reporting.
