Balochistan Government Finalizes Tax-Free Rs1.2 Trillion Budget for FY2026-27

QUETTA: The Government of Balochistan has finalized the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2026-27, which will be presented before the Provincial Assembly on Wednesday, June 17. The total size of the historic budget is expected to be Rs1,200 billion.

Provincial Finance Minister Shoaib Nosherwani will present the budget documents during a special assembly session and deliver the traditional budget speech.

Record Allocation of Over Rs150 Billion for Education

According to sources in the Finance Department, education has been given top priority in the new fiscal budget:

• Historic Funding: For the first time in the province’s history, more than Rs150 billion has been allocated to the education sector.
• Key Objective: The substantial allocation aims to improve the quality of schools, colleges, and universities across Balochistan, while also launching new educational initiatives.

Economic experts believe this significant investment in education will strengthen human capital development and play a vital role in long-term provincial growth.

Key Features of the Budget and Relief for Government Employees

The upcoming Balochistan budget will once again be a surplus and completely tax-free document. The government has decided not to introduce any new taxes or withdraw existing tax exemptions under its current policy framework.

Salary, Allowances, and Pension Increase

In line with federal government policy, the Balochistan government is expected to announce relief measures for public sector employees to mitigate the impact of inflation. According to officials:

• A reasonable increase in basic salaries of government employees will be announced.
• Various allowances will be incorporated into the new salary package.
• Pension relief will also be provided for retired government employees.

Development Program and Priority Sectors

In addition to education, special focus has been placed on development projects under the Provincial Annual Development Programme (PSDP), including healthcare, clean drinking water supply, road infrastructure, and other key public infrastructure initiatives.

Senior officials from the Finance Department have confirmed that the budget has been finalized. Finance Minister Shoaib Nosherwani will present a comprehensive review of the previous year’s achievements and outline development goals for the upcoming fiscal year in his speech on June 17.
