Balochistan Leads Pakistan in Per Capita Education and Health Spending

Quetta: Balochistan has emerged as the country's leading province in per capita spending on education and healthcare, according to the latest budget documents, reflecting the provincial government's commitment to improving public services and strengthening social infrastructure.

The budget figures show that despite having a significantly smaller population than other provinces, Balochistan has allocated record funds for key public welfare sectors.

In the education sector, Punjab has allocated Rs750 billion for a population exceeding 127.6 million, translating to approximately Rs5,873 per person. In comparison, Balochistan has earmarked Rs144 billion for its population of more than 14.8 million, resulting in per capita education spending of Rs9,668.

A similar trend is visible in the healthcare sector. Punjab's health budget stands at Rs500 billion, amounting to approximately Rs3,915 per person. Balochistan, meanwhile, has allocated Rs96 billion for health services, raising per capita spending to Rs6,445.

Economic analysts and development experts say that these allocations demonstrate the provincial government's focus on strengthening essential public services across Pakistan's largest province by area. They believe the increased investment could help improve schools, colleges, hospitals, and healthcare facilities, particularly in remote and underserved districts.

The higher per capita spending is expected to support long-term human development, improve access to quality services, and contribute to a better standard of living for local communities across Balochistan.
