Balochistan By-Elections for Local Governments Schedule Announced

Quetta: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially announced the schedule for the by-elections of local governments in Balochistan. According to the ECP, polling for vacant local government seats across various districts of the province will be held on 9 August 2026.

Elections on 81 Vacant Seats in 20 Districts

According to the Election Commission spokesperson, the by-elections will be conducted in 20 districts of Balochistan, where a total of 81 local government seats are vacant. The election process will begin in the first week of July.

Key Dates of the Election Schedule

The Election Commission has announced the following election timetable:

  • 1–3 July: Submission of nomination papers by candidates.
  • 6–8 July: Scrutiny of nomination papers by the Election Commission.
  • 9 July: Publication of the preliminary list of candidates.
  • 10–13 July: Filing of appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers.
  • 16 July: Final decisions on appeals.
  • 17 July: Publication of the revised list of candidates.
  • 20 July: Final list of candidates and allocation of election symbols.
  • 9 August 2026: Polling will be held across 20 districts of Balochistan.
