Appointment of Balochistan Government Law Officers Challenged in High Court

Quetta — The Balochistan High Court has issued notices to the provincial government and other respondents in a constitutional petition challenging the recent appointments of the Additional Advocate General and Assistant Advocate General. The court has sought detailed written replies from all concerned parties.

Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court, Justice Kamran Mulakhail, issued the orders after conducting the preliminary hearing of the petition.

Alleged Violation of Legal Requirements and Prescribed Procedure

The petition filed before the High Court has raised serious legal questions regarding the provincial government’s recent appointment notifications.

Scope of the Constitutional Petition: The petition was filed by prominent lawyer Advocate Sadiq Khan Kakar, who argued that the appointments were made in haste and in violation of the law and prescribed procedure.

Arguments by Legal Counsel: During the preliminary hearing, Advocate Noor Ahmed Kakar appeared before the court on behalf of the petitioner and presented the relevant arguments and supporting material.

Considering the sensitive nature of the case, Chief Justice Kamran Mulakhail issued formal notices to the respondents and directed them to submit their written replies.

Most Important Point: The petitioner’s central claim is that appointments to the posts of Additional Advocate General and Assistant Advocate General were made by bypassing the applicable security, qualification, eligibility, and merit requirements.

The provincial government will now be required to submit a written response before the court and establish the constitutional and legal validity of the appointments.
