Apex Committee Reaffirms Resolve to Eliminate Militancy
Quetta — A high-level meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee under the National Action Plan (NAP) was held in Quetta under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. The meeting brought together the country's political and military leadership, which reaffirmed its commitment to utilizing all available resources to counter terrorism and strengthen national security.
The meeting was attended by Field Marshal and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, the Governor and Chief Minister of Balochistan, senior civil and military officials, Federal Ministers Attaullah Tarar and Ahsan Iqbal Cheema, as well as the Prime Minister's Adviser Rana Sanaullah.
Review of Recent Security Incidents and Counterterrorism Operations
Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that several serious security incidents had occurred in recent days, resulting in the loss of lives of police personnel, members of the armed forces, and civilians. He stated that security forces responded with timely operations in which 54 militants were killed.
The Prime Minister said:
"Our efforts will continue until the last militant is eliminated. Our armed forces have rendered immense sacrifices for the country's peace, and the entire nation stands firmly alongside them."
Concerns Over Cross-Border Threats and Future Strategy
The Prime Minister also discussed external security challenges, stating that Pakistan had concerns regarding cross-border support for militant groups and the use of Afghan territory by armed elements for attacks against Pakistan.
