Mumbai (Showbiz Desk) Renowned Bollywood actress and Indian Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut has said that women have long been portrayed in a specific and imbalanced manner in films, but it would be incorrect to limit this issue to cinema alone.
Speaking to Indian media, Kangana Ranaut acknowledged concerns regarding the representation of women in films and said that women are often depicted unfairly. However, she added that it is also inappropriate to isolate every scene or character and generate unnecessary reactions on social media.
She said that women are not objectified only in films but also in everyday life. According to her, women frequently face harassment and inappropriate behavior in public places, including trains, buses, and on the streets.
Kangana Ranaut stated that it is therefore inaccurate to assume that inappropriate treatment of women is solely linked to the film industry. Rather, it is a broader social issue that manifests itself across different sectors of society.
The actress also spoke about her political career, saying that at times she worries whether she appears more like an actress than a politician. Nevertheless, she said that she strives to balance both responsibilities effectively.
