Rawalpindi: Pakistan’s senior military leadership has made it clear that any attempt to create violent unrest or situations similar to the events of May 9, regardless of the pretext, will be dealt with under the law and through decisive force, without discrimination or hesitation.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the 277th Corps Commanders Conference was held at General Headquarters (GHQ) under the chairmanship of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military), Hilal-e-Jurat, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces. The conference began with Fateha for the departed souls of personnel of the armed forces and law-enforcement agencies, as well as innocent civilians who lost their lives defending the homeland. Participants paid rich tribute to the martyrs for their sacrifices.

Participants of the Corps Commanders Conference took a clear position that targeted operations against terrorism originating from Afghanistan constitute Pakistan’s right to self-defence. The forum stated that the Afghan Taliban leadership would bear responsibility for the serious consequences of terrorism allegedly being carried out as a proxy of India.

The participants declared internal stability essential and appreciated intelligence-based operations conducted by law-enforcement agencies. They stressed that eliminating terrorism requires effective administrative and governance measures alongside ground operations. The forum called for governance to be extended to the grassroots and brought to the people’s doorstep, enhanced police capacity, and efforts to break the nexus between crime and terrorism. It also emphasized the need for systematic public engagement and narrative-building to address the causes of terrorism and counter it effectively.

The military forum welcomed the historic Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, describing it as a milestone in strengthening longstanding strategic relations. Participants strongly condemned Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, expressed full solidarity with the brotherly Islamic country, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm commitment to the protection and sanctity of the Holy Mosques. The conference also called for the resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir directed formations to further expand the pace and scope of intelligence-based operations and instructed them to continuously upgrade their defensive capabilities through modern technology, enhanced training and the integration of all dimensions of warfare.

He reaffirmed that, with the unwavering support of the nation, the armed forces remain fully prepared at all times to safeguard Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security.
