During the first seven months of 2026, from January to July, Pakistani seafood exports to China recorded a notable 41% increase, rising from $156 million to $220 million.

Key Export Products and Revenue Breakdown

Shipments of various seafood categories increased significantly between January and July.

Leading Export Categories: Frozen fish, cuttlefish and squid remained among the leading seafood exports, generating a combined foreign exchange revenue of $76.43 million.

Major Chinese Provincial Markets: The highest consumption of Pakistani seafood products was recorded in China’s major coastal and commercial provinces, including Fujian, Guangdong, Shandong and Zhejiang.

Number of Registered Exporters: To meet growing demand, around 200 Pakistani seafood exporters have completed formal registration with Chinese customs authorities.

Free Trade Agreement and Diversification of Pakistan’s Exports

According to economic experts, zero-tariff access and preferential market opportunities under the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement have created a more competitive environment for Pakistani exporters.

The seafood sector is playing an increasingly important role in diversifying Pakistan’s exports beyond traditional textiles, creating new employment opportunities in the coastal economy and helping balance bilateral trade between Pakistan and China.
