The Pakistan Army foiled an infiltration attempt by Fitna al-Khawarij militants, reportedly operating under the supervision of the Afghan Taliban, along the border sector in Kurram district. In a retaliatory operation, several Afghan Taliban border posts were destroyed.

According to security sources, Fitna al-Khawarij militants attempted to enter Pakistani territory with support from Afghan posts located in Afghanistan’s border provinces of Nangarhar and Paktia. The attempt was promptly thwarted by alert security forces deployed along the border.

Following the failed infiltration attempt, the Afghan Taliban opened fire on Pakistani border posts using heavy weapons, mortars and artillery, security sources said.

Pakistan Army personnel responded with small and heavy weapons as well as artillery, targeting hostile positions. The intense bombardment destroyed several Afghan Taliban border posts and mortar positions, while Taliban fighters reportedly abandoned several posts and fled.

Security sources said security forces maintain full control of the border area and are closely monitoring the situation. The forces remain on high alert to respond promptly and decisively to any further hostile activity.
