Heavy Gulf Investment in Pakistani Investment Bonds
Karachi: Despite uncertainty in the region, Pakistan Investment Bonds (PIBs) have attracted significant attention from Gulf investors, with investment of $129.8 million recorded during the first 25 days of September alone.
According to official data, the United Arab Emirates invested $110 million in Pakistan Investment Bonds during this period, while Bahrain invested $10 million. During September, the yield on fixed-rate PIBs remained at an attractive level of around 12.4 to 12.5 percent, which played an important role in attracting foreign investors.
Total foreign investment in Pakistan Investment Bonds reached $203.7 million during the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
According to economists, amid the prevailing geopolitical and economic uncertainty in the region, Pakistan has emerged as a potentially more attractive alternative market for Gulf investors seeking higher returns. The significant increase in Gulf investment is expected to open new avenues for foreign capital and contribute to strengthening financial stability in the country.
