The deadly ethnic violence in the Indian state of Manipur continues, with the Modi government facing criticism over its handling of the situation, while unrest remains persistent in the region.

According to a report by Indian publication The Wire, armed men opened fire and killed another young man in the state. The report noted that this was the second targeted killing reported within just one week, raising further questions about the administration's ability to restore law and order on the ground. The ongoing violence and what critics describe as the Modi government's continued silence have drawn strong public and political criticism within India.

According to the report, 731 people have so far lost their lives during the violent ethnic clashes in Manipur, while more than 43,000 civilians have been displaced and are facing severe difficulties.

Meanwhile, international human rights experts have expressed concern over the situation in Manipur, with some saying that the state is effectively beyond the control of the Indian government. They have also pointed to the serious conflict situation and the continued strengthening of separatist movements in the region.
