Residents of Sindh’s major cities, including Karachi, Hyderabad and Larkana, have described the creation of new provinces as a necessary solution to address the lack of basic facilities and growing deprivation.

In their reactions, citizens said Karachi is facing a severe shortage of essential necessities such as drinking water, electricity and gas, affecting residents across the city. Citizens frustrated by these problems have demanded that Karachi, the country’s economic hub, either be made a separate province or placed directly under federal administrative control.

Similarly, residents of Larkana said development work in the city remains largely limited to claims on paper, with little positive change visible on the ground. Meanwhile, citizens in Hyderabad said that despite substantial budgets and billions of rupees in funding, people still lack access to clean drinking water.

The growing public concern over basic civic issues has intensified debate over whether large provinces should be administratively divided to improve governance and provide long-term solutions to urban problems.
